New services & improved facilities are on the way.

Update:  Building 90 is under renovation to become the National Pharmacy Customer Care Center ….bringing more than 200 jobs to Waco.

Building 93 is under renovation to become the VISN 17 Center of Excellence for Research on Returning War Veterans


The following have new locations:

ü  Building 5:  Voluntary Service; Environmental Management Services (EMS/Housekeeping); Medical Administration, AFGE Local 1822, Clinical Education

ü  Building 6:  Music Therapy/Recreation

ü  Building 7: Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)/PTSD Residential Rehabilitation Program/PCT

ü  Building 10:  Morgue

ü  Building 91:  Patient Effects/EMS; Canteen (Barber Shop, Retail Store, Cafeteria), Women's Clinic, Release of Information, Podiatry, Eye Clinic, Tele-Nurse, Center of Excellence, Social Work Service

ü  Building 92:  Supply, Processing & Distribution (SPD), Office of Information & Technology, Clinical Engineering & Electronics

ü  Building 94: Mental Health & Behavioral Health, Occupational Therapy; SMILE Program, Patient Administration/AOD, Medical Service/MOD

ü  Building 219: Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation Service/Kinesiotherapy and Physical Therapy


Waco  has five minor construction projects totaling $49 million including:

  • Building 8 -- Acute Mental Health Center, Building 8
  • Building 93 -- Center of Excellence for Research on Returning War Veterans
  • Building 9 -- Blind Rehab Center and Community Living Center
  • Infrastructure/Laundry Improvements
  • HRC - Pharmacy Customer Care Center

In addition,  Waco has $7.9 million in Stimulus Projects that will provide for an extension of the chilled water pipe; window upgrades, relocation of the canteen; renovation of recreation and music education facilities, street improvements, drainage improvements, water system upgrades and electrical feeder upgrades.

Waco, Canteen Opening

Waco, Building 93 Reconstruction of Interior Walls 

The future home of the Center of Excellence, Bldg. 93 in Waco, is taking on some drastic changes. The interior of the second floor has been demolished, as the construction crew continues to work to completely gut the entire building. 09/24/09 R. Mahan

Waco, Building 91, Canteen Construction

Engineering Service employees work on Waco’s new Canteen that will be located in Building 91, second floor. Work is going briskly, and there has been good headway made. The Canteen, that was located in Bldg. 8, is moving to the second floor of Bldg. 91 on Thursday 10-08-09 with the official opening scheduled for Thursday, October 15 at 9am. 10/08/09 R. Mahan
