The Central Texas Veterans Health Care System (CTVHCS) is proud to announce the 15th Annual Waco VA Medical Center Creative Arts Festival will display Veterans entries Thursday, March 3 in the Atrium of Building 94 beginning at 12:30 p.m. The Waco Creative Arts Festival will include more than 45 artistic entries including fine art, applied arts, ceramics, paintings, wood carvings and models. Winners will be announced at a 1:30 p.m. awards ceremony. Competitors in all divisions will be recognized with ribbons and certificates.
VA medical facilities across the nation incorporate creative arts into their recreation therapy programs. This annual competition recognizes the progress and recovery made through that therapy and raises the visibility of the creative achievements of our nation's Veterans after overcoming personal challenges with disease, disability or life crisis.
The first place award winners in each division will compete at the National Veterans Creative Arts Festival that includes competitions in art, creative writing dance, drama and music for Veterans across the nation who are treated in a Department of Veterans Affairs facility. The 2011 national competition runs from Oct. 17 to 23 in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
Media are invited to attend the art display and the awards ceremony. Some of the artists will be beside their artwork and available for interviews.
Media wishing to attend should contact Deborah Meyer at (254) 534-0304.
