Navy Band Concert and Fun Fair
Fun Fair to begin at 3:30 pm. Band to perform at 5:30 pm.
As part of Waco Navy Week, Navy Band Southwest’s Woodwind Quintet and 32nd Street Brass Band will perform at the Doris Miller Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Medical Center at 4800 Memorial Drive in Waco, Texas Thursday, April 5, 2018. Central Texas Veterans Health Care System (CTVHCS) will host a Fun Fair that includes putt-putt golf, face painting, angora goat petting zoo, carnival-style games, and food outside Stracke Auditorium (Building 6) in the Inner Circle from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. The Woodwind Quintet will perfrom at the Fun Fair starting at 4:00 p.m. At 5:30 p.m., the 32nd Street Brass Band will play Jazz, Funk, Dixieland, and R&B-style songs inside the Stracke Auditorium. Veterans, their families and the public are encouraged to join us for this fun event.
Navy Band Southwest is one of the Navy’s finest and oldest continuing musical organizations. Now with over 80 years of support to the San Diego community, the band serves as the musical ambassador for the Commander, Navy Region Southwest. Under the direction of Lieutenant Jane E. Hoffman, the band is located onboard Naval Base San Diego, and serves the military and civilian communities throughout the southwestern United States.
Waco Navy Week is scheduled for April 2-8, 2018, in conjunction with the Heart of Texas Air Show, and is designed to give area residents an opportunity to learn about the Navy, its people and its importance to national security and prosperity.
CTVHCS, accredited by the Joint Commission, is comprised of two large medical centers located in Temple and Waco; a large stand-alone, multi-specialty outpatient clinic in Austin; plus, four outpatient clinics located in Brownwood, Bryan/College Station, Cedar Park, Palestine and La Grange. The system is one of the largest integrated health care systems in the United States and provides a full range of services including medical, surgical, psychiatric, and rehabilitation with inpatient medical/surgical hospital beds, a hospice unit, and community living center (CLC) beds. CTVHCS serves a Veteran population of more than 252,000, covers 35,243 square miles and 11 congressional districts in 39 counties
