2013 VA Mental Health Summit

August 26, 2013

The Central Texas Veterans Health Care System invites its community partners to a Mental Health Summit set for Wednesday, August 28, 2013, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Olin E. Teague Veterans’ Medical Center, 1901 Veterans Memorial Drive in Temple, Texas.

Community partners, such as, police/fire/EMS personnel, mental health staff, Veteran county service officers, mayors, city council members, judges and any agency representatives who work with Veterans are invited to join us at the summit to discuss ways to engage with VA to enhance the quality of mental health and well-being for Veterans and their families.

“This Mental Health Summit provides community partners and our VA staff a chance to establish and enhance positive working relationships so we can come together to address the broad mental health care needs of Central Texas Veterans and their families,” said Sallie Houser-Hanfelder, Director of the Central Texas Veterans Health Care System.  “Providing an opportunity to dialogue with our community partners is important for developing a proactive approach to help Veterans with mental health needs as well as generating and sustaining relationships that will enhance the quality of mental health services.”

Examples of specific topics that will be discussed at the summit include mental health interventions, employment opportunities, Veterans access, educational resources, as well as Veterans’ social, family needs and available resources.
