Physical Therapy

Physical Therapy (PT) is a form of health care devoted to treating, healing, and preventing injuries and disabilities.  Although our patients have very diverse Rehabilitation needs, the basic goals are to relieve pain, regain movement, promote healing, restore function to the previous activity level as rapidly as possible, motivate patients to work toward recovery, and help people adapt to any permanent physical changes.

Physical Therapy offers the following programs:

•Stroke Rehabilitation
•Orthopedic Rehab
    -Total Knee Replacement
    -Total Hip Replacement
    -Shoulder Rehabilitation
    -Acute Injuries
-Post-Op Rehab for the Shoulder or Knee
•Post Surgical Rehab After-Care
•Strength and Conditioning
•Neuromuscular Problems
•Pain Management
•TBI
•Amputee Rehab
•Sprains/Strains

Physical Therapy emphasizes active patient involvement in both pain management and rehabilitation.  Staff assists in providing a transition between In Patient rehab and traditional Out Patient Services.

Physical Therapy focuses on helping the patient/family/caregiver  establish a structure environment and routine schedule that is appropriate for the patient in the home setting.

Why are people referred to physical therapy?
You and others may be referred to physical therapy because of a movement dysfunction associated with pain. i.e. Difficulty with moving part(s) of your body (like bending at the low back or difficulty sleeping on your shoulder, etc.) very likely results in limitations with your daily activities (e.g. difficulty getting out of a chair, an inability to play sports, or trouble with walking, etc.).

What do you need to be referred for Physical Therapy (PT)?
* A Referral from you physician authorizing your need for physical therapy.
